ClearGuard is formulated as a ready-to-use coating. It can be applied with a brush, roller or airless sprayer to obtain an even finish. Do not apply past the point of run-off. A cross-hatching technique is the best way to ensure sufficient wet/dry film thickness and complete coverage. ClearGuard is used to protect most construction materials including treated and untreated lumber, OSB, particle board, masonry surfaces, concrete, brick, wallboard, composite construction materials and metals. Other surfaces include sheathing, trusses, framing, joists, plates, pillars, posts, beams and walls.

For best results, apply at 160 ft2 per gallon (800 ft2 per pail = 10 wet mils) based upon location, surface texture, porosity, age and application method. Does not include loss from over-spray or over-use.
SafeGuard is protected by the isothiazalone antimicrobial molecule that won the 1996 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award for Designing Safer Chemistries. Its leach resistance ensures a long service life. It’s non-persistence in the environment prevents liability.

A BARRIER TO THE ENVIRONMENT
By placing a physical antimicrobial-protected barrier between the structure and the environment, both moisture and contaminant control is certain.
While SafeGuard is moisture resistant to the environment, it does allow water vapor to pass between the environment and the structural surfaces. So if moisture content is high, SafeGuard helps prevent against wet rot and conversely, it prevents dry rot.
